What I'm Reading, Listening To, Watching, and Thinking About

  • I'm continuing to read three books: The Path to Power, the first of Robert Caro's biographies on LBJ, The Wager by David Grann, a non-fiction narrative about an 18th century British naval expedition, and The Road by Cormac McCarthy, a post-apocalyptic novel about a man and his son.
  • So far in The Path to Power I've learned that even as a young child, LBJ was a pathological liar. In The Wager I've learned that I wouldn't have made a very good sailor in the 18th century. And from The Road I've learned that you don't need quotation marks around dialogue, although I still prefer it.
  • I listened to an interview with Michael Connelly (Bosch, Lincoln Lawyer) on how he writes.
